1949 Buick Roadmaster Convertible
Besides all-new styling, Buick’s top-line Roadmasters, like the $3,150.00 rag-top, sported four "VentiPorts" on the front fenders. The "portholes" were the subject of a lot of jokes when the cars came out.
However they soon became the Buick trademark with three "portholes" in the Buick Special, Super and four holes in the Roadmaster. These convertibles were a magnificent production from the mind of Harley Earl, General Motors chief designer.
There is a new ad campaign now running for Buick which features the "return" of Harley Earl as the present designer of the 2003 Buicks.
