Buick

1949 Buick Roadmaster Sedanette

The long sloping rear deck of the Sedanette created a beautiful automobile with a huge trunk.  However, because it was a two door car, the doors had to be wide enough to allow entry into the back seat which made the doors very heavy.

This was a four thousand pound car without power steering and power brakes.

Notice how large the steering wheel is. The size was necessary to create enough leverage to turn the wheels of the car when it was at or near a stand still.
