1956 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible
The luxurious Bel Air was richly appointed inside and out. Bel Air nameplates and emblems appeared on rear fenders. The slanting sash molding blended into a horizontal chrome belt that ran forward to the headlamp crease and doubled back, running horizontally to below the rear side widows and then sweeping down toward the rear bumper ends.
Chrome wheel covers were standard equipment. Three spoke steering wheels and deep pile carpets graced all models. All 1956 Chevrolets with V-8 power had large V shaped emblems below the crest ornaments on the hood and dash.
There were 41,268 produced of this model with a base sales price of $2,344. This model car sold at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale auction in January, 2004, for $111,240.
