Ford

1932 Model 18 Ford Deluxe Roadster

Styling for the streamlined 1932 Ford was based on the big Lincoln.  A V8 roadster cost $460 ($485 with a rumble seat, and $500 in Deluxe trim).

On March 31st, 1932, Henry Ford announced the first 221 cubic inch, 65 horsepower flathead motor design.  This engine was in production for the next 21 years.

This year and model was considered a major milestone in the automotive industry.  This was also the first year of the anti-theft device.  It was added to the steering column.  Also, the gas tank was moved to the rear.

In 1923, a radio was first offered as an accessory.  Note the ornate glass etching on the front windshield.
