1953 Ford Convertible
The 1953 Ford continued to have the flat head V-8 first introduced by Ford in 1932. Originally the ’32 Ford had only 60 horsepower. It was raised to 85 in 1940 and then 100 horsepower.
The 1953 had only 115 horsepower. In 1954 the engine was changed for an overhead valve engine.
In 1953, Ford Motor Company sold its 40 millionth car. All ’53 Fords had special anniversary emblems on the steering wheel honoring Ford’s 50th Anniversary.   |
